Synthesis and characterization of mixed ternary transition metal ferrite nanoparticles comprising cobalt, copper and binary cobalt–copper for high-performance supercapacitor applications

Abstract Metal ferrites have outstanding electrochemical characteristics owing to the numerous oxidation states of metal ions, making them promising materials for addressing both sustainable energy conversion and storage growing environmental issues. Therefore, three nanocrystallites transition ferrites, CoFe 2 O 4 , CuFe Co/CuFe were synthesized using citrate precursors used as electrode supercapacitor applications. Mixed ferrite nanoparticles characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), scanning electron microscope (SEM) complemented with energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDX), transmission microscopy (TEM), Raman thermal analysis (TGA). The findings illustrated formation a single-phase spinel proved from XRD data. In addition, particle shape size obtained TEM revealed that as-synthesised nanomaterial exhibited spherical ranging 30 50 nm. result demonstrated while three-electrode configuration, performance achieved remarkable maximum specific capacitance 893 Fg ?1 at scan rate 5 mV s . At current density 1 Ag Co–Cu cycling stability 3000 cycles 90% capacity retention. Based on aforementioned data, it can be considered nanocomposites electrodes.
